Diepraam is a renowned Dutch photographer known for his powerful visual narratives that blend documentary precision with artistic depth. Initially rooted in photojournalism, his work evolved to explore themes of identity, history, and societal change with a distinct personal and aesthetic approach. Diepraam’s images often capture subtle emotional resonance and social critique, balancing formal composition with a deep humanist perspective.

Context

This work is part of his celebrated 'Lima' series. Lima (1991) is a book and touring exhibition documenting homelessness in Peru, supported by the Dutch Ministry of Welfare, Health, and Culture. The work was part of Diepraam’s 2011 retrospective at the Rijksmuseum.
