From the Magical Sixties to Helene Kröller-Müller’s undiscovered treasures

The 15th edition of NRC Veilingen with 475 works on offer

The last edition of NRC Veilingen consisted of a phenomenal selection of works in a variety of media by renowned international and Dutch artists. This time we offered pieces with a remarkable provenance such as the bronze sculptures by Lambertus Zijl from the Helene Kröller-Müller collection or the Rhine landscape by Herman Saftleven formerly in the possession of the Bosanquet family. In the catalogue you could also find unique museum-quality pieces such as the River landscape with ruins (17th century) from the hand of one of Segers' contemporaries, the Panoramic summer landscape, Zeeland by Andreas Schelfhout or the radiating lineseed oil painting by Schwontkowski (2004), and the archive of the 'Expertology Laboratory' from the Magical Sixties, and last but not least, affordable prints & multiples.

The turning point of the auction was undoubtedly the battle between a Dutch and an American museum over the Hostage camp St. Michielsgestel I  - a unique druksel by Werkman which reached the hammer price of € 55.000. We were also proud to be entrusted with the works from the Helene Kröller-Müller’s collection, which were sold for remarkable prices. The cherry on top was the still life by Jo Koster which went for a triple estimate, € 42.000 on hammer. The auction set a new record for NRC Veilingen with the highest sale results ever and a sales percentage of over 97%.
