From Pat Andrea's Virgin to Andy Warhol's Sex Parts

With controversial, sublime, graphic and high quality works on offer

The 16th edition of NRC Veilingen is already over, and consisted of various artworks from museum pieces, such as the still life with a white Lanooy pot by Floris Verster, to highly explicit prints by Andy Warhol. The December auction featured works with exceptional provenance such as the collection of paintings by Jacobus van Looy previously exhibited at Het Huis van Looy and Frans Hals Museum, rare finds such as the design for a stained glass window by Jacoba van Heemskerck or Werkman's 6th issue of the experimental constructivist magazine The Next Call from 1924, and a provoking masterpiece by the award winning artist - Natasja Kensmil. Other eye-catching pieces were a screenprint by Tom Wesselmann from the collection of Jan Cremer, a bold composition in purple by Willem Hussem and a fantastic monumental landscape painting attributed to Anton Faistenberger.
