Condition: Apparently in good condition, unexamined out of the frame. Sheet attached to the mount in places, paper slightly cockled, upper right corner rubbed and along the upper edge remnants of discoloured glue visible, soft vertical crease in the lower left area. Framed behind glass.

Notes: Artist & Practice

Hosu studied at the University of Fine Arts and Design and at the Accademia Albertina di Belle Arti in Turin. A master's degree from Académie Royale des Beaux-arts in Liege, and Meisterschüler degree at Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst in Leipzig. His works often explore the interplay between human figures and natural environments, capturing moments of movement and emotion through expressive brushwork and gestural lines.

Context

Hosu creates paintings and drawings, inspired by old family photos. His charcoal drawings create a powerful interplay of lines, virtuoso and direct. Despite the personal starting point, Hosu manages to give his work a universal character and gives the viewer the space for his own interpretation.

Solo exhibitions at the Museum der bildenden Künste in Leipzig in 2018 and at the Kunstverein Freunde aktueller Kunst in Zwickau in 2019, as well as solo exhibitions in galleries in Leipzig, Amsterdam, Bucharest and Hong Kong, among others.
