Notes: Artist & Practice

A multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans sculpture, installation, performance, and collage. Reflecting on themes of cultural identity, spiritual liminality, and utopian possibility, with a focus on the "soul in limbo" - a metaphor for states of transition, loss, and regeneration. Tee explores the fragility and interconnectedness of life, inviting reflection on cross-cultural narratives and the search for rootedness.

Context

Tee weaves together influences from Western spiritual abstraction (e.g., Kandinsky, Hilma af Klint) and Eastern Taoist talismans creating visual "diagrams" intended to channel intangible energies, from spiritual vitality to cosmic consciousness. The triangle becomes a symbolic tool - a connector between body, spirit, and abstract cosmologies.

Notes

Exhibitions at Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam (2020, 2012) and Rijksmuseum Amsterdam (2017), as well as appearances in several biennials. In 2020, she was awarded the Amsterdam Prize for the Arts. Forthcoming presentations in 2025 include Adelaide Contemporary Experimental (Australia), the 13th Liverpool Biennale (UK), and the Folkestone Triennial (UK).
