De Beijer creates conceptual photo series that reconstruct historical narratives through hand-built models and staged scenes. Blending drawing, photography, and sculpture, his work explores how we perceive and process historical imagery, touching on themes like colonialism and industrialisation. Exhibited at the Center Photographique Rouen, WIELS, the Hague Museum of Photography, and the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver.

Context

In this series, De Beijer imagines a post-apocalyptic Germany where communities attempt to rebuild their cities and cultural landmarks from fragmented memories and available materials. The works are meticulously constructed using scale models, which are then photographed to create the final images.
