Notes: Artist & Practice

London-based artist Browne works primarily in painting, extending into installation, drawing, and sculpture. Her practice explores the human impulse to understand and measure the natural world, often referencing caves, quarries, and the writings of Georges Bataille. She holds an MA from the Royal College of Art and has exhibited at venues including Frieze London in 2019, Galerie Liusa Wang, Flatland Gallery, and Tintype Gallery.

Context

This work reflects on the commercialisation of natural wonders, symbolised by the 'kiosk' as a point of transaction and interpretation.

Notes

She received the New Contemporaries Studio Bursary Award with Hospitalfield, Angus in 2017 and the Land Securities Bursary and Studio Award with Bow Arts in 2016. She is a mentor at Turps Art School and visiting lecturer at Winchester School of Art and Glasgow School of Art.
