Consigned by NRC readers

Three sales from one quality source

Dutch quality newspaper NRC started to call for consignments almost five years ago. More and more readers come up with surprising treasures from their homes and families. An oil painting dating from 1600, an etching by Rembrandt, an unknown masterpiece by Sol LeWitt, and a maquette by Rietveld are just a few of the highlights. A view at Claes Oldenburg in his studio, Andy Warhol on the phone or in discussion with his team? Roy Lichtenstein dreaming in his office, or an exhibition at the Sidney Janis Gallery? Dutch artist Jean Paul Vroom went to New York to visit the pioneers of pop art and captured it all. All the negatives of his reportage are now for sale. Out of sight for almost 70 years, a collection of unique Anti-Dutch cartoons also suddenly surfaced and contains a series of watercolours, masterly executed but merciless. Art and photography remain our primary subjects, modern or old, but always accessible, by clear descriptions as well as by very low starting prices. Explore the catalogue online.

First NRC auction of books and prints

The sale of books, maps & manuscripts, selected from more than 2000 consignments by readers of the leading Dutch newspaper NRC Handelsblad, was a great success. Bidding for some of the lots resulted in a fierce battle. For example, a score of 10-year-old Mozart went 60 times higher than the starting bid, from € 100 to € 6.000 […]
